in a new place

in a new time

the same questions remain

am I worthy?

do I matter?

when Jesus called his first disciples

he called fishermen

those on the outside

those not chosen as worthy

to study scripture

to be part of the elite

so they are fishermen

and Jesus called them

Jesus called me

I don’t always want to respond

but this time I did

and now here I am

in a new place

in a new time

at a new beginning

because I was called

and when the call rang

I chose to answer

despite my fears

of my readiness

of my ability

of my own worthiness

because Jesus knows me

Jesus sees me

I am worthy

I am beloved

I am a child of God

and I can do this

I can teach

I can lead

I can walk alongside

because that is my call

to be here

to be present

to just

be.
